About Us
In 1832, Hugh McCabe willed $200 to build a Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. In November 1833, Annual Conference was held in Pulaski. Mt. Pleasant was placed on a circuit of churches, and two men--James Tarrant and Garrett M. Martin--were appointed as the first ministers of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.

We are a friendly, vibrant, welcoming church in the heart of downtown Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. We have three United Methodist Women circles, a United Methodist Mens group always ready to lend a hand, a terrific children’s program, an outstanding Vacation Bible School, Sunday school classes for all age groups, a dedicated Youth Group, Disciple Bible studies, a music program that is second to none, beautiful stained-glass windows, and an incredible pipe organ, which was dedicated in 2008, the 175th anniversary of the church's founding.
We hold a traditional worship service on 11:00 a.m. Sundays, preceeded by Sunday school at 10:00 a.m. We hold quarterly contemporary worship services on either Sunday or Wednesday evenings. Communion is held on the first Sunday of the month, and a pot luck dinner follows worship every fifth Sunday.
